I paint a variety of landscape subjects in oils, often with a focus on clouds and sky. I’m drawn to the distinct lighting effects created in storms, and at dusk. Some of my work is scenic, although I also focus on objects such as trees, or man made structures.

My process usually begins with idea sketches. Then I use photographic reference to actualize the concept. The final manipulated image is used to create the painting. I develop many ideas simultaneously often in series.

Even though my work is in a realist style, many of the places depicted are entirely imaginary. Through selectively editing my reference, I’m able to create scenes that are layered with symbolic and personal significance. Allowing the viewer their own unique take away.
